Cardinals Sign RHP Blake Parker to Minor League Contract

The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of RHP Blake Parker to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training. He will wear number 26.
Parker (36) has pitched 9 seasons in the majors for the Chicago Cubs, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies and Cleveland Indians. He has a career 16-11 record with a 3.47 ERA over 345 1/3 innings.
This is the third straight off-season that Parker has signed a minor league contract, but has seen major league action in each of those. He was 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA for Cleveland last season.
This is more of a depth move for the Cardinals than anything else, as Parker joins veteran pitchers Zach McAllister & Kyle Ryan in trying to earn a spot on the big league roster. Drew VerHagen & Nick Wittgren were both signed to MLB contracts, and yesterday the Cardinals announced Aaron Brooks was placed on the 40-man roster after Alex Reyes was moved to the 60-day IL.
