Former Cardinal Jose Rondon Suspended 80-Games for PEDs

Former St. Louis Cardinal utility man Jose Rondon has been suspended for 80-games for testing positive for the performance enhancing substance “Boldenone” according to the commissioner’s office.
The failed drug test was from urine samples taken prior to the MLB lockout. Major League Baseball had previously said that results & discipline would not be announced during the lockout.
Also announced was that New York Mets OF/1B Danny Santana & pitcher Richard Rodriguez are also banned 80-games for the positive test results from the same performance enhancing substance.

Rondón, 28, hit .263 with three homers and nine RBI in 63 games for the Cardinals last season. On November 30, 2021, Rondon was non-tendered by the Cardinals, making him a free agent.
He has a .216 average with 12 homers and 33 RBI in four seasons with San Diego (2016), the Chicago White Sox (2018-19), Baltimore (2019) and St. Louis.
