The San Diego Padres announced their 2022 coaching staffs and an old familiar face to St. Louis Cardinals fans was named the bench coach for the Padres’ Double-A affiliate San Antonio Missions. 37 year old, Shane Robinson.

Robinson was drafted by the Cardinals in the 5th round of the 2006 MLB draft out of Florida State University, and was twice named Best Defensive Outfielder in the Cardinals organization by Baseball America.
Shane played for the Cardinals (2009, 2011-2014), Minnesota Twins (2015), Los Angeles Angels (2016-2017), and New York Yankees (2018) during his 9 year MLB career, most notably for St. Louis where he was part of the 2011 World Series Championship team.
He also had a stints in both the Cleveland Indians & Philadelphia Phillies minor leagues in (2016 & 2018), and had signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves in 2020. Robinson signed with the Acereros de Monclova of the Mexican League on July 8, 2021
For his career Shane had a slashline of .221/.288/.292 in 461 games, but was a very serviceable outfielder due to his hustle & glovework.
