Matt Carpenter Agrees to Minor League Deal with Texas Rangers

Ken Rosenthal reports that former St. Louis Cardinal Matt Carpenter has agreed to a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. He went on to say that sources tell The Athletic, that he had at least one major league deal offered to him, but decided to bet on himself to play at home. Carpenter lives in Fort Worth, TX.
Matt has previously spent his entire career (11 seasons) with the St. Louis Cardinals, and despite struggling the past couple of seasons will always be one of the fan favorites of Cardinal Nation.
Carpenter was a 3 x All-Star (2013, 2014 & 2016) and Silver Slugger (2013) for St. Louis with a career .262/.368/.449 slashline, 1,153 hits, 301 doubles, 155 HRs & 576 RBI for his career.
